Death came to a lifelong resident of the Sinai community when Otto Larson, 69, died at the Brookings hospital Wednesday afternoon (Aug 1, 1956) following an illness of 18 months. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Vernon Twedt officiating. Mrs. Joseph Husher was organist, and Rev., and Mrs. Arthur Mathison and Mrs. Adolph Larson were soloists. Burial was in the East cemetery at Sinai, and Rude’s funeral home of Brookings was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Larson was born in Sinai on Aug., 3 1887, the son of Henry and Caroline Hartman Larson. He spent his entire life farming in the Sinai community, where he was a member of the Sinai Lutheran church and served on its board as well as serving as chairman of its building committee. He had also served as a school board member, and his hobbies included all outdoor sports and music.
It was on Oct. 9, 1912, that he was united in marriage to Minnie Madsen in a ceremony at Arlington.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Minnie Larson, Arlington; a son, Howard V. Larson, Brookings; two brothers, Peter Larson of Anacortes, Wash., and Adolph Larson of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Carrie Anderson of Brookings and Mary Marquart of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and a grandson, James Larson, Brookings.
