Henry was a most respected citizen and a pillar of the Methodist Church.

Henry Nutt was chosen to be on the Methodist Board of Trustees for the first quarterly meeting held at the church (at the center) on 20-21 Sep 1828. He was also designated a "leader" over 14 other members. [SOURCE: VT Historical Gazetteer, Vol. 4, Pub. 1882, pg. 335]

Henry and Asenath (Wheeler) Nutt had five children die in infancy, and a sixth die as a young child:

Sophia Wheeler Nutt in 1832, age 12-1/2 months; Edwin Delorme Nutt in 1834, age 5 years 3 months; Wheeler Nutt in 1834, age 3 months; Joseph Nutt in 1841, age 4 days; John Nutt in 1841, age 10 months; and David Wing Nutt in 1845, age 6 days. Individual markers for the six children could not be found, but there is one small marker with a lamb engraved "Our little children." This marker was found in May 1997 by D&P Nutt in section 478, next to the family's large monument, at the Green Mount Cemetery.

On 18 Jun 1878, in Montpelier, Vt., Henry Nutt and his wife celebrated their golden (50th) wedding anniversary. [SOURCE: VT Historical Gazetteer, Vol. 4, Pub. 1882, pg. 335]

Henry Nutt died at age 83 years 6 months 4 days from Bright's disease. A large gravestone marks his grave.
