A new church was built in Montpelier, Vermont (it was completed and dedicated on 24 Nov 1874) and Col. Henry Clay Nutt Brother of Fanny and Asenath) donated the massive bell at a cost of about $1,500. This donation was made as a memorial gift in the name of his two deceased sisters.
