Jay Palmer Richardson, age 83, of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Friday May 15, 1987 in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Floyd and Ollie Short Richardson. A retired farmer and coal miner, he was formerly employed by the Red Ash Coal Company.

He was of the Holiness faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Edgar Johnson Richardson in May 1978 and also by one son, one daughter, five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Richardson of Swords Creek, Virginia and Mrs. Helen Clines of Lockport, New York; one son, Garland Richardson of Swords Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Margie Mullins of Richlands, Virginia and Mrs. Macie Kegley of Mansfield, Ohio; two brothers, Earnest Richardson of Swords Creek and Sherman Richardson of Richlands; ten grandchildren, twenty two greatgrandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Richardson, Rev. Jim Richardson and Rev. Kyle Brown officiating. Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Honaker Funeral Home was in charge.
