Mrs. Ollie Rachael Richardson, 79, a resident of VanDyke, Buchanan County, Va., died in a Richlands hospital yesterday morning following an illness of one week. Death was attributed to a heart problem.
Born in Buchanan County Mrs. Richardson was the daughter of the late Amos and Margaret Deskins Shortt.
Survivors are the husband, William Richardson; nine children; Mrs. Mary McGhee, Ernest Richardson, Jay Richardson, Mrs. Marjorie Johnson, Stuart Richardson all of Swords Creek, Va., Mrs. Stella Davis and Mrs. Macy Johnson, Cedar Bluff, Va., Sherman Richardson of Raven, Marvin and Perry Richardson of VanDyke, Va; one brother, Joe Shortt, VanDyke, Va; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Stilwell and Mrs. Celia Davis, Grimsleyville, Va., and Mrs. Sarah Deskins, Honaker, Va.; fifty three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Richardson home. The Rev. Albert Ball will officiate, assisted by the Reverends James Elkins, Clarence White and Albert Whitt.
The body was removed to the residence by the Farmer Funeral Home in Richlands late yesterday afternoon.
Interment will be in the Richardson Cemetery at Swords Creek.
