"Jorgen Jorgensen, a well known farmer of Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, who owned 240 acres of land in this township, was a native-born citizen of Denmark, but an adopted and patriotic citizen of this country.

Mr. Jorgensen was born on September 24, 1867, the son of Jorgen P. and Lena C. [Iversen] Jorgensen, both natives of Denmark, where his father was a farmer. Jorgen P. and Lena had four children: Jorgen, Chris A., Iver, and Erick.

Jorgen received his education in the schools of his native land, and after finishing the prescribed course in the Danish schools, engaged in the occupation of a farmer, which he followed until 1889, when he came to America. Shortly after coming to this country he located in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, where he worked as a farm hand until 1894, a period of four years.

Mr. Jorgensen purchased 80 acres of land, which he sold and in 1908 bought the farm where he resided for several years. He improved this farm in many ways, and increased his farm holdings until he owned 240 acres of land. Mr. JOrgensen raised 90 acres of corn, which yielded and average of 50 bushels to the acre and 50 acres of small grain, most of which he fed to his hogs and cattle. He raised 100 head of hogs every year, and many head of cattle. Mr. Jorgensen found it highly profitable to follow mixed farming, and each year he was able to show a considerable profit from the farming operations. This profit which Mr. Jorgensen saved in the form of money he re-invested in improvements, which amounted to upwards of five thousand dollars, and also in additional land he had purchased from time to time."

Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen were the parents of ten children:
1. Jorgen P., born 31 Jan 1891 remained single. Served the US in World War I.
