On 24 April 1865, Jurgen Petersen Jorgensen married Lena Christena Iversen, at Bregninge (parish & disctrict), island AERO, Syndall, Denmark. [Source:FHL FILM #52702, Ref #2:1CW036B]
They were a farm family, crops grown on this island were wheat, rye, barley, oats and later corn. Livestock on AERO was mainly sheep, a few hogs and a few head of cattle.
They lived in Tverby, later addresses indicate Norrebro #3, Soby (street & town) and possibly AEroskobing (town).
Jurgen and Lena were the parents of 4 sons who immigrated to the United States and settled/farmed in Audubon County, near Kimballton, Iowa. They also had a daughter who immigrated to Madison County, IA. Their children were:
1. Jorgen Jorgensen, b. 24 Sept 1867 & married 1892 his cousin(?) Anna Sophie Jorgensen, the daughter of sailor Chris L. & Anna (Albertsen) Jorgensen. Jorgen & Anna came to the USA in 1889. They were blessed with 11 children: Jorgen P. (George); Lena C.; Chris L.; Anna S. Jo(hanna) K.; Karius (Alfred); Alvilda; Carl; Thyra; Eavald.
2. Christen Albert Jorgensen, (11 Apr 1962 address from Denmark letter) 1101 Grand Vein Ave., Des Moines 16, Iowa; was born 10 Aug 1873 Tverby (near Bregninge Parish), island of AERO;
3. Iver Jorgensen;
4. Erik Nielsen Jorgensen, born 25 April 1876, married 05 March 1902 in Audubon Co., IA to Sidsel Marie Madsen. Sidsel was the youngest daughter of Hans Madsen & Anne Margarethe Madsen, all natives of Rise, Aero island, Denmark. Erik & Sidsel were the parents of 5 children: Lena, Anna, Hans P., JoHannah, & George. Erik & Sidsel also raised a foster niece, Elvera Hermansen.
5. Johanna Jorgensen married Christian Hermansen. They had a daughter, Elvera, born in 1924 near Winterset, Iowa. Two years later, Johanna died. Elvera was then raised by her aunt & uncle, Erik & Sidsel Jorgensen in Audubon County, Iowa.
