Thomas J. Schlindwein, 56, of 1845 W. Iles Ave. died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital North.

He was born in Iowa, the son of Edward A. and Celia Frances Dailey Schlindwein.

A graduate of Western Illinois University, Mr. Schlindwein served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was secretary and treasurer for the Roland Machinery Co. for many years before his retirement in 1986. A brother, Raymond Schlindwein, preceded him in death.

Mr. Schlindwein was a member of Christ the King Church; the Sangamon County Board; and had been a trustee of the Jerome Village Board for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth M.; one son, Jeff of Springfield; one daughter, Lisa Sherell of Springfield; five brothers, Joseph, Barney and Robert, all of California, Edward of Princeton and Gene of Sheffield; one sister, Mrs. Zeta Johnson of Kewanee; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Church, with Monsignor John Bretz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Bisch Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
