C. A. Adam, Member of Pioneer Family, Dies During Parade
Carlyle Alexander Adam, 81-year-old native born Santa Maria, died Saturday while watching there Elks rodeo parade from the home of his sister, Mrs. Anastasia Porter, 519 South Broadway.
A member of the pioneer Adam family, Mr. Adam was born March 5, 1871 and formerly lived in San Jose, coming back here in 1935 to manage the Carl Adam ranch on Guadalupe road.
A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of the Magner Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Fr. Thomas V. Murphy officiating.
Following the service, the hearse will proceed to Santa Maria cemetery where it will draw up in front of the Adam family plot for a five-minute observance of respect to the deceased relatives. The hearse will then take the body to San Jose for burial there.
Mr. Adam is survived by a son, James Adam of Santa Maria;
a daughter, Mrs. Constance Sillimna of Watsonville;
two sisters: Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Annie Preisker, both of Santa Maria, and six grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were four brothers: W. C., Charles, Thomas B.,
and three sisters: Miss Mary Adam, Mrs. Rambusch and Mrs. Belle Adam Sheehy.
