He was born April 5, 1922 to parents Marion L. and Ethel G. Abbott. He was raised by his father and mother, Ozelma S. Abbott, after the early death of his biological mother. He was married 55 years to the love of his life, the late LaWann F. Abbott who preceded him in 2002. He served during WWII in the 30th Infantry Division of the US Army. He received several medals including the Purple Heart for wounds suffered during the Battle of the Bulge on December 24, 1944. After serving his country, he retired from Dixie Cup after 33 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and Hardin Jolly Loser Sunday School Class since 1945. He served as a Deacon and on various committees.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Joyce A. Tyner of Darlington, grandson, Randolph E. (Judy) Tyner of Darlington, granddaughters: Regina T. (Les) Erving of Rock Hill, Angela T. (Chris) Woollen of Marietta, GA., six great-grandsons: Sidney R. (Meagan) Tyner, Spencer R. (Faith) Tyner, Travis N. Erving, Trenton S. Erving, LCpl Christopher J. Woollen, PFC, Taylor P. Woollen; four great-great grandchildren: Parker, Kate, Lucas, and Sarah Tyner; sisters: Jean A. Leach, Betty A. Mims; a brother, Roy C. Abbott and a faithful and helpful friend, Billy G. Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Warren L. Abbott, two sisters: Elizabeth A. Kinley and Olivette A. Patterson.
