Phelps, July 25 - The death of John W. Worden, a veteran of the Civil War, occurred Wednesday night at his home on Maryland Street, four miles northeast of Phelps at the age of 76 years.
The deceased was born at Rose, N. Y. April 13th, 1844, and had been a resident of this town for the last 16 years.
During the war of the rebellion, he served two years with Company D. 9th New York Heavy Artillery.
Surviving relatives are his wife, four sons, Eugene, Bert and Charles Worden of Phelps, Fred Worden of Lyons and two daughters, Mrs. Harley Kise of Clyde and Mrs. Dudley M. Rising of Clifton Springs.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the family home, Rev. C. C. MacLean, minister of the Phelps Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be in the South Cemetery at Lyons. Geneva Daily Times, Friday, July 25, 1919
