This is a "virtual cemetery". There is no War Memorial in Deansgrange Cemetery.

There are two large plots and two small plots, in a quiet corner of the cemetery in which many veterans of both World Wars were buried.

All are in St. Brigid's section, close to the pedestrian entrance from Park Avenue.

One (A.3 - A.8) has the names of 28 men recorded on a communal headstone.

One (A.61 - A.66) has the names of 19 men recorded on a communal headstone.

One (A.13 - A.14) has the names of 8 men recorded on a communal headstone.

One (A.32 - A.33) has the names of 7 men recorded on a communal headstone.

Most of these men died in what was then known as Leopardstown Park Military Hospital, Foxrock.

This memorial tries to bring together into one place, all those who died in World War 1 and World War 2, who are buried in this cemetery, and those who are named on a family headstone here, but were buried elsewhere.

It also includes those who died of their injuries later, and those who survived both wars.

The names of those who died in WW1 and WW2 and were buried here, are taken from the CWGC lists. All of the other names were accidentally found when walking through the cemetery. There are undoubtedly many more names of those who served in both World Wars to be included, but until their identities are revealed, they will remain hidden.

Please be patient.

It will take some time to complete this list.
