He was born on 3 April 1881 at Lombard Street West, and was baptised at St. Kevin's Church, Harrington Street, Dublin, on 5 April 1881

John J. Barror, a bachelor, from Sandymount, son of John Barror, a Caterer, married Sarah M. Mannion, a spinster, from Bayside Hotel, daughter of Thomas A. Mannion, an Auctioneer, on 7 March 1905 at St. Michael's Church, Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire)
