Services will be held Tuesday for Gertrude G. Wahl, who passed away Jan. 16, 1988, in Fortuna at the age of 92. She was a resident of Fortuna.
Born and raised in Port Kenyon, Mrs. Wahl had lived most of her life in the Fortuna area. She was a member of the pioneer Ferrill and Goble families who were early settlers of the Ferndale and Arcata areas. She was the last surviving member of 12 children of the W. W. Goble family.
She was a bookkeeper for many years for Morgan Store which later became Bistrins. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Fortuna, a member of Rohnerville Chapter No. 76, Order of Eastern Star, Azalea Shrine No. 47, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Eureka, and a 50 year member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She was also a member of the Fortuna Bridge Club, the Over-50 Club of Rio Dell, and the Fortuna Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her two daughters, Belva Bravo of Fortuna and Beryl Foley of Trinity Lake, She is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Wahl in 1964; and a daughter, Marilyn Windbigler in 1968.

Gertrude's flat metal grave marker has a beautiful sun rising over the mountains to light a small chapel with a high bell tower. A growing tree frames the left side.
