He was the father of Dr. Garvin Goble and Max A. Goble, both Fortuna. He was the grandfather of Dr. Jay Goble, Stockton; Jim Goble, Yuba City; Jack Goble, Eureka, and Marjorie Goble, Fortuna.
He was the brother of Gertrude Wahl of Fortuna. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Mr. Goble was a native of Coquille, Ore., age 89. He was a member of the pioneer Goble family of William W. and Mary Ferrill Goble, who were early settlers of the Ferndale Valley, and a member of the pioneer Ferrill family, early settlers of the Arcata area.
Mr. Goble graduated from the Eureka Business College. He built the first store in Myers Flat. For seven years he worked for the Standard Oil Company and for over 20 years he worked for Shell Oil Company, serving as the plant manager in Mount Shasta, retiring in 1945. He then returned to Fortuna where, with his son, Max, he owned and operated Goble's Fortuna Mortuary.
He continued until the present as a senior member of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, and also the investment firm of Goble Enterprises.
For over 20 years, he owned and operated Goble's Ambulance Services. Mr. Goble attended the Wood Street Chapel and was a 50-year member of Eel River Lodge No. 147, F. and AM. He was past patron and 50-year member of Rohnerville Chapter No. 76 Order of Eastern Star,
He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Oakland, the Ashmes Shrine of Oakland, and a charter and life member of the Fortuna Kiwanis Club. For over 50 years, he was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and was a member of the Eel River Lodge No. 210 IOOF of Fortuna.
For several years, Mr. Goble served as chief of the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department. He also served for many years, as deputy coroner.
