CENSUS 1930:
US census showed Bocko family in Massilon OH (parents immigrated from Czechoslovakia appx 1919,) in 1930 with five (5) children, and a boarder/lodger, Matt Chovan, who eventually becomes Susie's spouse
(infant Mary, born 1922-died 1923, is not on 1930 census)

2) Dan.......aged 6
3) John......aged 3
4) Milan.....aged 2
5) Emil......infant, 8 mos.

YOUTH:
*1927 - Father, Daniel Bocko, is in Stark County Home (per his 1943 death certificate)
*1930? - Father, Daniel Bocko, was in WWI, shell-shocked; unknown if divorced from Susie appx 1930s (he is listed on the 1930 US Census, but assumption is that he was in the Stark County Home)
*1931? - Mother, Susie Pavlik Bocko, weds Matthew Chovan appx 1931 timeframe (unknown); their children become half-siblings (Milan, 1928; Emil 1929, Roy and Ruth 1932)
*1934 - Birth mother dies in car accident; widowed stepfather Matt Chovan left with seven children.
*1935+ - Children fostered out
Ann - she was 18-19, possibly married in 1939
Dan - with Arthur Smith & wife
John - with Elmer & Lina Gerber (and their daughters)
Milan - with John & Susan Jacupciak

COPLEY, OHIO
Dan Bocko, 81, of Copley, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Akron General Medical Center, after a short illness.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Spidell Funeral Home, 15900 E. Main St., Mount Eaton, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Online guest registration and condolences may be sent to www.spidellfuneralhome.com.

Friends may also call Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley. Memorial contributions may be made to Copley Fire and Rescue Unit, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dan was born March 15, 1924, in Massillon to Dan and Susan Bocko and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Following the service he moved to New Mexico. He retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Co. in 1980, and returned home to Ohio in April 2003.

Surviving are his wife, Alice (Beals) Falb Bocko; a daughter, Susan (Louis) Spring of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Michele (Kevin) Barry of Corona, Calif., Melissa Spellman and Steve Cobb, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Katie, Hannah, Megan and Leah; brothers, John Bocko of Fairborne, Milan (Laura) Chovan and Emil (Nancy) Chovan, both of Massillon and Roy (Florence) Nussbaum of Goshen, Ind.; a sister, Ruth (Delvin) Nussbaum of Kidron; numerous nieces and nephews; a stepdaughter, Vicki (Lance) Wilkinson of Mogadore and their daughters, Mindy and Deanne.
His wives, Louise (Carboni) Bocko and Wilma (Spring) Bocko, his parents and sisters, Ann Zimmer and Maria Bocko, died previously.

Dan will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially the school friends with whom he reestablished contact when he returned home to Ohio. The family would like to thank the AGMC Surgery Unit, physicians, nurses and staff for the loving care they gave Dan for the past six weeks.~
