NEW TAZEWELL, Tenn. - Hazel J. Keck, 80, of New Tazewell, formerly of Monroe, died Monday in her home, following a long illness. Services were held this morning at Claiborne Funeral Home. The Revs. Greg Sharp, James Hopper and Dustin Gent officiated. Burial was in Cole Cemetery. Born April 28, 1922, she was the daughter of L.M. and Sarah (Cox) Johnson. She married Robert M. Keck. A teacher for Claiborne County Schools, until retiring, she worked in a bomber plant during World War II. While working at the plant, she lived near Monroe. Mrs. Keck was a member of Pleasant Point Primitive Baptist Church.Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Connie (Harry) Gent of New Tazewell; a daughter-in-law, Charlene (Keck) Smith of New Tazewell; a brother, Roy (Bertha) of Monroe; two sisters, Edna Stiner of Indiana and Nell Tolliver of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Scotty; two brothers, Ted and Cotton, and three sisters, Madie Keck, Evyln Brewer and Thlema Jane Johnson.
