Jesse Iiams is the son of William and Elizabeth (?)
Iiams. There is question at this time on the name of William's wife. Jesse's last name is sometimes spelled Ijames. The Iiams name has several different spellings and sometimes it's changed two or three times in research for the same individual. Jessie was born August 8, 1792 (or 1794?) in Cumberland, Alleghany County, Maryland and died June 12, 1874 in Madison County, Walnut Township, Iowa. Jesse was a tobacco farmer and owned a tobacco plantation. Jesse raised thoroughbred horses and furnished horses to the US Calvary. Jesse married Mary Ann Dawson in 1815. Jesse and Mary Ann had 10 children. The names of Jesse and Mary Ann Sarah Dawson's children were Hugh Iiams, b. Jun 1817; William Iiams, b. February 14, 1815; George W.Iiams, b.1819 - d. 1894 in Madison County, IA; Moses Jackson Iiams, b. November 19, 1823; Ann Iiams Still, b. around 1827 in Maryland; James Jasper Iiams, b. 1832; Michael Iiams, b. March 18, 1833 in Maryland; Miranda, b. 1835 in Maryland, Rachael, b.ABT 1816; and Ephron (Ephraim), b.ABT 1833,died ABT 1840. The exact date when Rachael was born is unknown at this time.
Jesse may have married a second wife named Barbara, but this has not been verified. Jesse died at the age of 79 years, one month, 27 days. Jesse is buried in the Union Cemetery, Clarke County, Iowa.
