Marshfield Times May 7, 1913 -- News reached Bethel this morning (May 2) that Frank M. Austin died last night at the Tri-City sanitarium, Moline, Illinois, where he went for surgical treatment, about two weeks ago. We have, also, just heard that his remains have already reached Arpin. Marshfield Times May 14, 1913 -- The body of Frank M. Austin arrived at Bethel on May 3. After some delay waiting for Jesse Austin to reach here from the west, the funeral of Mr. Austin was conducted in the Bethel church at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon May 7. The services were conducted by Prof. E.E.Gardner assisted by Elder W. H. Thurston. After 1st Cor 15:51 and onward was read, the following obituary was given:

Frank M. Austin was born in Michigan, August 10 1844. He came to Dunn County, Wis. in December, 1862. He enlisted in the 51st Regiment Wis. Vol. Inf. in 1864, and served until the end of the war. Mr. Austin was married to Flora Shafer in 1879, in the town of Lucas, Dunn County, where they made their home until they came to Bethel in 1890. In 1890 they both united with the S. D. A. church. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Austin, of whom nine are still living. Mrs. Austin, who was faithful wife and mother, died in 1905 in Bethel. Mr. Austin was taken ill in later part of March, went to Tri-City Sanitarium, Moline, Ill, a little later, took an operation, and died a week later, May 1, 1913.

During the funeral services, Elder Thurston read I Thess. 4. 13-18. The singing was by a quartet of the academy students. Mr. Austin was then laid beside his wife in the Bethel cemetery. The floral decorations were quite beautiful.
