Was Born in Northern Penn. and lived there until The California Gold Rush of 1849 So at age 41 He Went West! To find his fortune, But He found more money supplying the Miners with Provisions than digging it from the grounds himself, He soon found things drying up in California so He first Moved to Carson City NV. some time around 1856 and later to Gold Hill in 1858 starting a Hotel & Boarding house with a Saloon,
When the News of Gen. Lee's Surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865 Reached Gold Hill Nevada on April 11th there was a Huge celebration and Charles Brown being a Loyal Union Man took part in the Celebration which was a little hard on him and He suffered a Stroke on April 12th, And was taken to his bed were he lay unable to move or speak for two days until he died at 12:45 April 14th 1865 (The day before Lincoln'a Assassination) At Age 57 He was Buried at the top of the Knoll near the Maison's Section.
