RICHFIELD — Prominent retired farmer, stockman and banker, beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert Allen Taylor died July 22, 1978, of a heart ailment in a local hospital.
Born April 19, 1888, Fremont, to James Allen and Louisa Jane Taylor. Married Myrtle Elizabeth Peterson Dec. 14, 1910, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Spent most of his life in Fremont as a rancher and stockman. He also operated a country store for many years. Served as a director and president of the State Bank of Wayne County for over 50 years, and was one of the original stockholders. Served as a county commissioner, president of the Fremont Irrigation Company and many other local positions. He filled an LDS mission to the Central States, 1912-13. Served as bishop of the Fremont LDS Ward, and also served on the Wayne LDS Stake High Council. Lived in Provo for a short time, then moved to Richfield where he spent the remainder of his life. Active locally in livestock and civic affairs.
Survivors: wife, Richfield; son and daughters, R. Allen Taylor, Granger; Thora Jackson, Marjorie Ainsworth and Roberta (Bobbie) Ogden, all of Richfield; Betty Anderson, Kearns; NaDean Hatch, Layton; Alta Albrecht, Fremont; Rula Turner, Lyman; Shirley Oldroyd, Loa; 39 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services Tuesday, 2 p.m., Richfield 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 10 South 200 East. Friends may call at the Springer Mortuary on Monday, 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial, Richfield City Cemetery.
