Husband of Ellen WOLSELEY, daughter of John Wolseley and Anne Stanley. They had eleven sons and ten daughters, including James, Robert and Edmund. This marriage put George Abney in the line of: William Marshal, Magna Carta Supporter & Knight Templar.

On the floor of the Chancel are two alabaster slabs, the figures and inscriptions are very worn. On George's there are figures of a man in civilian's dress, his wife in a French cap and brocaded petticoat, and nine children below them. Apparently three boys and six girls. The following is the inscription: "Here lieth the bodies of George Abney esquire and Ellen his wife deceased the firste day of Marche in the year of our Lord God 1577 (8 and the saide Ellen) deceased the III day of December in the year of our Lord God MVLXXI." (courtesy RR Abney).

George inherited Willesley Hall from his father in 1505.
