Dolores 'Lorie' Oliver
Dolores "Lorie" Bonnel Oliver, of Midland, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007.
She was born July 22, 1928 to C.A. "Jack" Bonnel and Dosha Whiteman Bonnel in Winfield, Kansas. Raised in Cowley County, Kansas, Lorie helped raise cattle and wheat. After high school she married John L. Oliver. The couple moved to Midland in 1955 where John was an independent petroleum engineer. As his secretary, Dolores was a vital part of the family business. She was a certified Docent of the Petroleum Museum, and was also an honorary member of the FFA spending many hours at the Ag Barn She enjoyed sewing and made dolls for the Salvation Army to hand out at Christmas. Family was very important to Dolores, and she loved spending time looking after them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John L. Oliver, and her son, Gary Lee Oliver.
Dolores is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Barbara Oliver of Monterey, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie Mae and Clay Williams of Chenango, NY.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Tuesday, March 6, 2007 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. To place on-line condolences visit www.mem.com.
