In September 2009 the Xenia Ohio chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was advised by a Fairfax County, VA DAR member that a Revolutionary War patriot, Blanch Mercer Babb, was interred in Babb Cemetery. The cemetery was discovered in the middle of a corn field and obscured by mature trees, an overgrowth of weeds, fallen tree trunks and underbrush. Many headstones were hidden beneath downed trees, in mounds of dirt created by decades of groundhog activity, and entangled in tree roots.
Upon discovering the condition of their ancestors' burial yard, Babb descendants began restoration plans in anticipation of a NSDAR gravesite dedication ceremony for Blanch Mercer Babb. The local DAR chapter, Xenia's , spearheaded the cleanup and restoration efforts and hosted the grave marking event on October 9, 2010.
