The first cemetery of the Catholic community in St. Petersburg, which existed from 1856 to 1939. It was arranged in the Vyborg part of the former Kulikovo field, which until the middle of the 19th century had a predominantly agricultural purpose. In ecclesiastical and secular documents of the late 19th century, it was mainly referred to as the cemetery of St. Mary, since in 1879 the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Elizabeth was consecrated at the cemetery. Subsequently, several dozen burials were made in the crypt of the templeGo to the section "In the crypt of the temple".
The largest of all Catholic cemeteries that have ever existed on the territory of modern Russia; about 40 thousand burials were made at the cemetery. Most of the buried are Poles and Belarusians. The last burial was made in 1928. Liquidated by the decision of the Presidium of the Leningrad City Council of October 22, 1939. Almost all tombstones were destroyed by the beginning of the 1950s, elements of these monuments were used for economic purposes, mainly for paving roads to the section "Closing and Liquidation". To date, most of the territory of the cemetery is occupied by industrial and economic buildings and structures, only two tombstones have survived.
