Solomon H. OWENS first patented this land in 1838 and lived here until his death. He was appointed county judge in 1837 and was afterwards elected to the same office. His son J. S. Owen, ex-sheriff of Greene County, also lived at this home place at the time of his death. This cemetery is all but destroyed, with many stones now missing. The cemetery has been fenced at one time, but now the fence is gone and is all part of a pasture where cattle run at will. In June 1957 Mildred "Mickey" Atwood, now deceased, was at this cemetery and took pictures before the cemetery was destroyed."
Ozarks Genealogical Society Book: Greene County Missouri Cemeteries Vol. 9 page 23.
The cemetery is now an overgrown lot in a housing development. The cemetery was protected by a family member that did not want a house built on the site, so the developer left the area alone, and there is an easement for the cemetery.
Directions to the cemetery from Springfield:
Take MO-13 (Kansas Expressway) North
Turn Left at Norton Road (towards Lowes)
At the light, turn right and head north, this takes you from Norton Road to Morris Avenue, to smith street (all without turning off the road)
Smith Road becomes N Farm Road 139
Turn left at W. Brook Ridge Street and
Left on onto N Springbrooke Ave
Stop at the end of that street (cul-de-sac) and the cemetery will be off to your left. There is an easement to allow access from the neighborhood to the cemetery.
