Mest Family Burial Ground
Dryville, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA
before 69 Fivepoints Rd.
Size: 269' x 454'
History: According to tradition, bodies of Henry & Eva Mest were found years after they died. In 1834 letters of administration for
George Henry Mest, who had died intestate, were granted to his son George. Henry Mest was a witness for the will of John Hilbert of Rockland in 1806. A. Reinert is living inn this area in 1876. r". Gravemarkers and inscriptions: Four fieldstones and one engraved stone were visible in recent years. Weeds have overgrown all the area except the driveway in to a summer retreat. Picture of stone was published by LM, p. 260.
Observations: Indicate the graves laying north to south, parallel to Fivepoints Rd. The site begins on the north side of the road with 1 row and continues across the road for 52 rows back the lane just beyond the entrance of the retreat. Measured at the edge of the south side of Five Points Rd., indicates 51 rows abreast beginning across from No. 69 and continuing beyond the lane close to the power tower. This is a very large area and in parts very overgrown and not accessible. Possibly the stones could be located after frost.
This area parallels the power towers and at the road G.P.u. pole # 56755-41030 stands at the entrance to the lane.
