In the center of the cemetery stands a memorial marker to William Chiles enclosed by an iron fence which was erected by descendants. There are no standing gravestones.
In 1999 the site had become rough and overgrown, and stood in an area recently lumbered and covered with slash. Nevertheless, several dozen fieldstones remained to mark gravesites, and tiny white periwinkles formed a groundcover throughout this large, but forgotten, family cemetery.

William Chiles Cemetery, SC - Notes by Darby Chiles (2007)
One of the largest and oldest family burying grounds in the county is that of William Chiles (1736-1804) about one mile southeast of Bradley and 300 feet into the woods on the west side of county road 48, opposite the J. Albert Ridlehoover residence.
There is only one marker enclosed by an iron fence, but there must be close to 50 graves marked by field stones or indicated by sunken places under a dense growth of periwinkle.
The marker is about 10 feet high including its stone base and is inscribed:
William CHILES - Died 1804 -
(See Deed Record Book 61 - Page 87- 1939)
This monument was erected in 1939 by two brothers, F. H. and W. B. Cothran, descendants of William Chiles. The deed book reference specifies that the land is set aside for the cemetery and notes that it was abandoned for that use about 1850.
William Chiles fought in the Revolution in Virginia and came to this area after that war. He was a large landowner in this vicinity and his home was not far from the graveyard. He married Agnes White who is also buried here, and he was survived by seven children.
