Although the late Mary Swetlishoff Landis stated in 2007 that a child of her older sister was buried at Porto Rico, on 21 Apr 2009 she recanted that statement, saying that her nephew "Mykytka" (not Edward) Posnikoff is buried at Krestova, and in fact "Teddy" was very much alive! Repeated attempts to correct the erroneous information have been unsuccessful, therefore only five of the seven persons interred have been identified.
Caution! Bears are known to frequent the area - use extreme caution and make plenty of noise!
Directions:
To reach the cemetery, park at the bridge near the Porto Rico-Ymir Road intersection with BC Highway 6. On the west side of the highway, follow the power line up the hill about 18m (60ft) to the main power line, follow that line south about 12m (40ft) to a large rock. Climb the hillside about 38m (125ft) to the simple gravesites mounded with rocks.
Note: the www.waymarking.com website says it's 200m up the hill (considerably different), and that there is surveyor tape around several of the trees marking the perimeter of the cemetery.
