Graves are from a listing copied in 1959, found in the possession of Sara Josephine Andrews at her death and from graveyard visits.
1990 directions:
Grave yard directions:
431 North past Bit Hardison store in Berlin. First right immediately after store onto John Lunn Road. Then about two miles to the intersection of John Lunn Road with Gray Road. It looks almost as if John Lunn Road ends at a "T" intersection with Gray Road. At this intersection stay to the left (Don't turn right onto Gray Road) and about 300 yards or so beyond this intersection is a gravel road on the left that is barely noticeable. Take this to the Andrews-Cunningham graveyard which will be on the right. It is typically overgrown.
State of Graveyard:
The county took down the fences protecting the Andrews-Cunningham cemetery several years ago [late 1990s] and didn't replace them as they promised and the farmer owning the land does not want to go to the expense of replacing the fences himself. His cows are running free over the gravestones and many of them are being demolished. It is believed that Susan Brindle has talked to the county about this without luck.
Berlin:
The Berlin area of today consists of the Berlin General Store, Berlin United Methodist Church, a fully equiped volunteer fire department, the Berlin Springs Park, area cemeteries (Ownby, J. Thad Ownby, Andrews-Liggett, Boyett, Whitesell, Andrews-Cunningham). There are two articles written by William X. Andrews of the Daily Herald appearing July 17, 1976 and September 9, 2006. The 1976 article by Bill Andrews is one of the more comprehensive articles on the Berlin Tennessee area, its history, and people.
There is also one article written by Leah Campbell of the Marshall County Post appearing November 16, 2006. And, one article from the October 19, 1925 Marshall Gazette about the famous Berlin Rock.
