Although Dorothy Bailey's tombstone lists her death as occurring on May 13, 1944, this is an error. Dorothy was shot-and-killed on November 13, 1944. I have added her death certificate to the Photos Section for viewing. Plus, I have several obituaries describing the entire murder, which all give the crime (and Dorthy's death) as being November 13, 1944.
Dorothy was shot by Ruby Clark, who then shot her own husband, Pershing Clark, and then immediately turned the gun on herself, and died later that night at Raleigh General Hospital.
Pershing Clark recovered, and later remarried.
