Frank Hatch Kasson was born on June 14, 1852 in Baraboo, WI. Frank was the 2nd son born to Reverend James Hatch and Mary (Sherwood) Kasson. Frank graduated from Iowa College (Ames, IA) in 1874 with a religious degree (A.M.), and he attended the Chicago Seminary (Chicago, IL) from 1875 to 1876. Frank also graduated from the Andover Theological Seminary (Newton Centre, MA) in 1879. Andover is the nation’s oldest theological school having been founded in 1807. Frank Kasson was ordained a minister in Templeton, MA by a congregational denomination on November 15, 1879. Reverend Frank Kasson then met a young woman, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Day, born on December 23, 1855 in Plaistow, NH. At the age of 27, Frank married Lizzie Day on December 25, 1880 in Plaistow, NH. Frank and Lizzie had two sons - Charles LeBaron Kasson, Sr. and Donald Kasson.

Rev. Frank Kasson served as a Presbyterian minister in Templeton, MA from October 1, 1879 to May 1, 1880. He also served as a minister in Abington, MA from May 1880 to 1882. Rev. Frank went on to serve as the minister in Tewksbury, MA from 1883 to July 1886. He also served as a minister in a church in Fairhaven, MA from March 1888 to March 1889 before moving to a church in Kewanee, IL from March 1889 to 1890. Then for the next 38 years, Reverend Frank preached from over 300 pulpits within the New England area. Sometimes he was only at a church for one Sunday; other times he preached at a church for over six months.

Besides being a minister, Frank was also the editor of the magazine “The Golden Rule” from 1883 to 1886, and a staff member with the “Congregationalist” magazine from 1886 to 1888. In December 1890, Frank joined the editorial staff of the magazine “Education” in Boston, MA. In 1892, Frank had become the editor and publisher of the “Education” magazine. From May 1892 until June 1901, he was also the senior partner of Kasson and Palmer, the editors and publishers of the “Education.” Frank contributed numerous articles, stories and reviews to many newspapers and magazines for over 50 years.

Rev. Frank Kasson was also chosen as one of the original Trustees of the Tabor Military Academy in Marion, MA and he served as a trustee there for over 40 years. Rev. Frank Kasson delivered the commencement prayer at the Dedication of the new dormitory, Lillard Hall, at Tabor Academy on June 12, 1926, per the article and picture in the New Bedford Evening Standard newspaper. His grandson, Charles L. Kasson, Jr., attended the Tabor Academy for one year (1925-1926) and got high marks in academics. Charles, Jr. also won the Tabor Academy medal in 1926 for Boat Building for his home-made model of a sailboat which he named “Spray.” Charles Jr. was also mentioned in the 1926 newspaper article as having won the Tabor Academy medal for Boat Building.

Reverend Frank Kasson was living in Boston, MA with his son, Charles L. Kasson, Sr., his wife Susan, and their three children, Charles Jr., Stella and Frank Kasson, per the 1920 U.S. Census report. Reverend Frank Hatch Kasson died on April 20, 1929 in East Orleans, MA at the age of 76. He is buried with his wife, Lizzie Kasson, and their two sons in the Day family plot in the Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill, MA.
