Found in The State 05 December 1907: Mrs. Anna Heyward Taylor, relict of the late B. W. Taylor, died suddenly yesterday at her home in this city. She suffered a stroke of apoplexy Tuesday night, but her death yesterday was unexpected. Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Nathaniel Heyward and was 62 years of age. She was in apparently good health up to the time of her death. She is survived by several children and a number of grandchildren. Her children are: Thos. Taylor, president of the Taylor Manufacturing company; B. F. Taylor, president of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Julius H. Taylor, local surgeon for the Southern railway; Mr. Edmund Taylor and Misses Anna and Ellen Taylor. The funeral services will be held at Trinity church at 12 o'clock Friday. A large circle of relatives and many sorrowing friends mourn the death of Mrs. Taylor. She was the widow of Dr. B. Walter Taylor, surgeon-in-chief of Gen. Hampton's army, and for years the leading physician of Columbia.

On December 15, 1865, she married Dr. Benjamin Walter Taylor and they lived in Columbia. They were the parents of eight children, among them the artist-teacher, Anna Heyward Taylor, and Thomas Taylor, who built the home in Columbia that became the Columbia Museum of Art.
