Charles Allen Dorsey, who had been a resident of New Albany for fifty-seven years, coming here from Mason county, Ky., in 1833, died at his home on Market street, between West First and Second, on the night of the 28th, in the 74th year of his age, of acute dyspepsia, from which he had been a sufferer for many years. Deceased for a number of years carried on the cabinet and furniture business at the southwest corner of West Market and First streets, and afterwards was foreman of the cabinet department of Shrader's Furniture Works. He was one of the founders of Centenary M. E. church, going with others from Wesley Chapel to organize that church in 1839. He leaves a wife and the following children: George W. Dorsey, New Albany; Mrs. C. E. Jones, Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. George Marsh, Cincinnati; James O. Dorsey and Robert H. Dorsey, Cincinnati; Misses Mary and Lillie Dorsey, this city. - New Albany Ledger 29 Aug 1890
