LINN C. ROSS DIES in HOSPITAL

Linn Carnahan Ross, 68, of 502 South Seventh Street, died at the Home hospital early Sunday morning [Oct. 9, 1949], where he had been a patient for five months. He was a director of the Ross Gear and Tool company, and a nephew of the founder of the Ross Machine company, forerunner of the present firm.

A graduate of the Purdue School of Mechanical Engineering, class of 1904, Mr. Ross had charge of the university's educational exhibit at the St. Louis world's fair. He later worked as a draftsman in San Francisco and Seattle.

In 1914, he assumed management of the Ross Machine Company, established by his uncle, William H. Ross, and successfully conducted the firm for 25 years, until it was sold to the Ross Gear and Tool company.

Born in this city, he married Gladys Adell Gould of Oakland, CA, in 1912. He was a member of the Lincoln Club, a charter member of the Lafayette country club, and treasurer of the Greenbush Cemetery association.

Mr. Ross was a son of David Linn Ross, one of the founders of the Ross Gear and Tool Company, and one of its officials for many years, and wife. Member of an old and prominent family in Lafayette, Mr. Ross retired from active business after the Ross Machine Company was sold.

Surviving besides the widow are three daughters, Mrs. John (Anna Margaret) Alexander of Indianapolis, Mrs. Wayne (Eleanor) M. Burns of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Vern (Gladys) R. Dimond of this city; and a sister, Mrs. Rochester (Eleanor) Baird, also of this city.

Friends may call at the family residence, 502 South Seventh Street, after 2 PM Tuesday, Oct. 11. Services at the residence Oct. 12, Rev. W.R. Graham officiating; burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
