Gladys Gould Ross Dimond, 77, died at 6:55 AM Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993, in Regency Place, where she had been a patient 1 ½ years. Born Dec. 17, 1915, in
Lafayette, her parents were the late Gladys Adell Gould Ross and Linn Carnahan Ross, the founder of Ross Gear Machine Company, which later became part of Ross Gear & Tool Company, now a part of TRW Inc.

Mrs. Dimond was a life resident of this area and a graduate of Jefferson High School. She also attended Indiana University and Purdue University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Following her marriage to Vernon R. Dimond in Lafayette on Dec. 23, 1935, the couple moved to Portland, OR, where Mr. Dimond pursued his career as a researcher with DuPont. They returned to Lafayete in 1942, when he became involved in local area farming and property management operations. He died Aug. 29, 1975.

An avid sports enthusiast, Mrs. Dimond was an accomplished golfer and had won the Lafayette City Golf Championship. She also was active in local bowling leagues and was one of the high average bowlers for the Lafayette Country Club
League for many years. She was a great supporter of junior golf and was active behind the scenes in running the Indiana Junior Golf Association when her husband was the director. She also was an enthusiastic benefactor of the YWCA.

Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor (Mrs. Charles T.) Haines of Nashville, TN, and Lynn R. Mobley of Georgia; a son, Robert W. Dimond of Navato, CA; two sisters, Anna M. Alexander and Eleanor R. Burns, both of Indianapolis; ten
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside service Oct. 22 at Rest Haven Memorial Park, the Rev. Kenneth L. Scherry officiating.
