George Franklin Deskins, 75, of 415 2nd Street in Boone, Iowa passed away at the Boone County Hospital on Sunday morning, June 29, 2008.

He was born on June 29, 1933 in Borderland, West Virginia the son of Jeff and Junia (Spradling) Deskins. George was raised in Pike County, Kentucky. In 1955, he married Anna Lois Fraley in Barstow, California. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1959. After leaving the service, he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he worked as a door-to-door milkman. In 1996, he and Anna retired to Boone, Iowa.

George enjoyed riding his bike, reading and working on seek-and-find word puzzles. He loved his cats and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and the American Legion.

His parents, 2 brothers Major Deskins and Clarence Deskins and 1 sister Elva Fraley preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Anna of Boone; his son Brent Deskins and wife Jo of Ottawa, Ohio; his daughters, Dreama Deskins of Ankeny, Iowa and Cynathia Smith and husband Dan of Galloway, Ohio; grandchildren Erin and Jared Schroeder of Ottawa, Ohio, Scott Deskins and Kelsey Paris of Boone, Iowa, Lyssa Deskins of Ottawa, Ohio, and Victoire Moore of Galloway, Ohio; 2 brothers Cecil Deskins and wife Jean of Columbus, Ohio and L.D. Deskins and wife Dorothy of Hatfield, Kentucky; and many other relatives and friends.
