Cecil C. Deskins, 86 - God wrapped his arms around his faithful servant and took him home on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family. He has a wonderful soul and accepted everyone with kindness, a smile and laughter. He lived his life without complaint and with patience. He was a man of God and a witness to all he came into contact with. He was born on September 21, 1926 in Borderland, WV. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the South Pacific. Cecil retired as a Stationary Engineer from Kal-Kan Pet Foods. He was a Elder, Sunday School teacher and youth leader in the church and most recently a member of the Hilliard Church of Christ. He was a former Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by parents Jeff and Junia Deskins, brothers Major (Luna) Deskins, George Deskins, and Clarence Deskins, sister Elva (Zader) Fraley. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Jean; son, Dennis L. (Debbie) Deskins of Ashville, OH; daughter, Cathy (Mike) Canny of New Palestine, IN; grandchildren, Daniel (Susan) Slane, Bob Deskins of Montreal, Quebec, Kristin Mullins of New Palestine, IN, David Deskins, Heather Milam, Heather Canny of Costa Mesa, CA, Jason Deskins; eight great-grandchildren; brother, L. D. (Dorothea) Deskins of Hatfield, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Anna Deskins of Boone, IA and Vonna Deskins of Hatfield, KY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., where the Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday.
