STRATFORD - Clifford Carlstedt, 89, of 1124 B Moore Street, Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford, Iowa on Saturday morning, March 15, 1997 due to heart failure. He had been a resident at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center for the past 3 weeks.
He was born on November 14, 1907 in Stanhope, Iowa the son of John Carl and Jenny (Hanson) Carlstedt.
On March 14, 1928 he married Helen Irene Angstrom at Stratford, Iowa. She passed away in July of 1957. On March 18, 1960 he married Phyllis Knaub at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Clifford attended school in Stanhope, Iowa. He farmed all of his life north of Stratford until 1987, when the couple moved in to town to make their home. He was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen in 1957, one infant daughter, two brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Carlstedt of Stratford, Iowa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Lee and Ben Robinson of Stratford, Iowa; Martha and Keith Carlson of Stratford, Iowa; a granddaughter Karin Kickcox of Stratford, Iowa; four grandsons, Kurtis Robinson of Penssacola, Florida; Kim Robinson, Douglas Carlson and Michael Carlson all of Stratford, Iowa; three great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; one step-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa with Pastor Tom Hungerford officiating.
Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa.
Memorials may be given to the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa. The Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
