Following the services at St. John’s Church, the funeral party left for Monticello, where services were held at Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed Church at 3:00 o’clock, and burial was in the family lot in Monticello Cemetery.
Those coming from away to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Babler, son of John, Mr. and Mrs. Will Spring, Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schmiedlin, Dodgeville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bowen, Black River Falls; John Babler, Minneapolis; M.B. Baumgartner, Greenwood. Those going from here, besides the members of the family residing at Monticello, for the burial, were, Mrs. Bryner, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bryner and son Alvin, Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Hahn, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hart and daughter Mrs. Angus Flood, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rieder and son and daughter.
John Bryner was born in Stadel, Switzerland, Oct. 1, 1857. He came to this country at the age of 24 years, with three friends, locating at Monroe, and a short time later went to Monticello, where he engaged in farming.
He was married to Miss Kathryn Rhyner of Monticello on July 4, 1883. Mr. and Mrs. Bryner lived in the southern part of the state for ten years before moving to the town of Hewett, Clark County, in 1893. Leaving the town of Hewett in 1898, they settled on the farm just east of Humbird, which is still owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bryner and were they lived until 1917, when they left the farm to live a retired life.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryner happily celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in this village.
Mr. Bryner was a member of the town board for a number of years. he was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church and was an elder in the church for thirty years. In the early days he had charge of the Sunday school. He sang in the church choir for about thirty years.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryner were blessed with nine children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving, besides the widow,a re Mrs. Elizabeth Babler and Mrs. Rose Spring of Monticello; Mr. Emma Keeler of Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Chloy Rieder, Fairchild; Mrs. Anna Hart, Mrs. Mae Hahn, and John of Humbird.
Mr. Bryner is also survived by eighteen Grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He also has one sister, Mrs. Anna Leeger of Stadel, Switzerland. He attained the age of 84 years, 4 months and 3 days.
