He was born in Delavan and married Louisa Garber there in 1913. He grew up and farmed in that area until 1943 when he started working for the Chicago-North Western railroad, where he worked until he retired.
Survivors include a son, Alvin, Silver Lake; three sisters, Mae Hahn, Humbird, Chloy Rieder, Rockford, Ill, Emma Keeler, Beloit; and three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Jensen Funeral Home, Hixton, with burial in Mentor Cemetery, Humbird.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm today and until services at the funeral home.
