Lester V. "Red" Hicks, 71, of Lafayette, died Aug. 19, 1986, in Home Hospital. Born in Crawfordsville, he lived most of his life in Lafayette. He and Dorothy J. Payne Fahnstock made their home together for 19 years before their marriage in 1981 in DeLand, FL.

Mr. Hicks was owner and operator of Hicks and Sons Trash Service for 25 years. Before that he worked for L&N Railroad, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Golden Eagle Lodge 347, Moose Lodge 1529, American Legion Post 75, and 40&8 Voiture.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons from a previous marriage, Lester Carl Hicks and Henry Ray Hicks, both of Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Virden of Lafayette, Grace (Mrs. James) Taylor of Battle Ground, and Donna (Mrs. Don) Brumfield of Oklahoma City, OK; and three brothers, Jessie Hicks of Monticello, Abe Hicks of Chalmers, and Harold Hicks of West Lafayette. Service Aug. 21 in Hippensteel Chapel, Pastor Henry C. Stolldorf officiating; internment Elmwood Cemetery, Romney.
