He was born on June 26, 1929 in Monitor to the late Jesse Homer Hicks and Edith Julia (Osborn) Hicks.
Harold was an active member of the United States Navy for three years before entering pilot training in 1953. He graduated on March 15, 1954 as 2nd lieutenant and stayed active in the military until retiring December 1, 1967. After his career in the military, Harold worked for AFLAC selling insurance until he retired in 1991.
He married Doris Alene Davis on August 4, 1954 in Oklahoma City on Tinker Air Force Base. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2014.
Harold was a life-long member of the American Legion #75 of Delphi and a life member of MOAA of Lafayette. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by two children; one sister; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Harold is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lynn Hicks; five brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the funeral home with full military honors by United States Air Force. Pastor Reginald Alderman will officiate the service.
