"Mrs. Rattenborg, Resident 58 Years, Dies At Hospital"
"Mrs. Anna Cathrine Holm Rattenborg, 77, a resident of Audubon county since 1892, died at St. Anthony's hospital in Carroll Saturday, Feb. 24 [1951], following an illness of 20 days. She had lived in the vicinity of Hamlin most of the time since she came from Denmark in 1892 except for six months in Canada.

"Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Hamlin Lutheran church, the Rev. Andreas Hansen--assisted by the Rev. H. L. Jensen--officiating. Burial was in the Hamlin cemetery.

"Mrs. Rattenborg is survived by four sons, Willads of Audubon, and Soren, Otto, and Herbert of Hamlin; seven daughters, Mrs. Mads Hansen, Mrs. Marie Gude, Mrs. Ella Rasmussen, and Mrs. Clifford Hansen, all of Audubon, Mrs. Anna Bertlesen of Hamlin,Mrs. Freda Alwill of Manning, and Mrs. Agnes Christensen of Spearfish, S.D.; three brothers, Peter, Hans, and Mads Holm, all living in Denmark; 38 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

"She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

"She was born at Maustrup, Slesvig, Denmark, November 24, 1873, the daughter of Soren H.[Hansen] Holm and Anna [Petersen Schott] Holm. [Anna Cathrine Holm was the granddaughter of Peter Schott and his wife Anna Roos]. She came to the United States in 1892 at the age of 18 and made her home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nissen of Sharon Township.

" On Feb. 28, 1893, she was married to Nels Rattenborg at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willads Rattenborg of Sharon township. They lived near Hamlin except for six months in 1922 when the family moved to Canada. Mr. Rattenborg died in 1949.

"Both Mr. and Mrs. Rattenborg were charter members of the Hamlin Lutheran church and were active in helping organize and maintain it."
