Willads Holm Rattenborg was born January 10, 1907 in Hamlin, IA to Nels and Katrina Rattenborg.
He was baptized and confirmed in Hamlin Lutheran Church, Hamlin, IA. He has been a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church since 1945.
After attending the Hamlin school, he farmed with his parents. He married Ruby C. Petersen of Exira, on 20 April 1930. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born:
1. Betty Joann Rattenborg, b. 11 Nov 1931, m. Halvor W. Eaton, Jr. "Bill" 28 Oct 1951;
2. Harold D. Rattenborg, b. 30 Dec 1934, m. Iris J. Shoemaker 3 July 1955;
3. Charles W. Rattenborg, b. 13 Sept 1938, m. Doris J. Kelly.
They have farmed and been engaged in various businesses in the Audubon, Hamlin, Exira area. Willads was a lifelong resident of Audubon County.

1 Daughter: Mrs. Bill (Betty) Eaton, Sterling, IL;
2 Sons: Harold of Longmont, CO, and Charles of Exira, IA;
8 Grandchildren: (7 girls and 1 boy);

2 Brothers: Otto Rattenborg, Audubon, IA and Herbert Rattenborg, Hamlin, IA.
Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Audubon, IA.
