Claude Earl Addington was the son of William Samuel (1864-1943), and Ida Frances (Thompson) (1866-1967) Addington.

He married Elma Gertrude Purdue on 28 Apr 1907 in Boonville, Indiana at the home of her parents.

In 1930, because of the depression, they moved from Boonville, IN to Elizabethtown, KY. They settled on a farm on St. John Road, which was later to become, along with his son's property, "Addington Field," the airport in Elizabethtown.
