William T. Byrnes, 56, former barber and widely known resident, died Friday night at 11 o'clock after an illness that extended over the past year and during which he had been in several hospitals.
Mr.Byrnes was born in this city March 16, 1889, a son of the late Patrick J. and Elizabeth King Byrnes. In early youth he entered the barber business here and was engaged in that business for 30 years until ill health forced his retirement a couple years ago. He was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic church and was a member of Ironton Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine Byrnes of Patterson Field, Osborne, O., and two sons, Paul Thomas Byrnes, Toledo, and William J. Byrnes, Jr., of Newport News, Va. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. James J. Mains, 2837 south Third street, Ironton, and Mrs. Merle Sanders, Ashland, Ky. and one aunt, Mrs. Catherine King Gibson, Portsmouth.
The body is at the Frank Feuchter funeral home where friends may call after 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body will remain there until the hour of services Tuesday morning, when requiem mass will be sun at St. Lawrence church by the Rev. Father Yonk. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
