Betty, as she was known, was the 5th of six children and was a 1944 graduate of Dewey High School and a 1948 graduate of Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.
On October 31, 1949, Betty married Bobby Arno Brockhouse at the Independence Boulevard Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri where they first met. Betty and her husband had two children: Michael Wayne Brockhouse and Madeline Eileen (Brockhouse) Garman.
After working for Golden Point, the IRS, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, and the Bank of Kansas City, she opened an in-home daycare located at 815 Queen Ridge Drive in Independence, Missouri. In her free time, Betty enjoyed traveling; genealogy; reading the bible; collecting plates, bells, and angel figurines; and spending time with her children and their families.
Betty passed away on May 9, 2015 at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs, Missouri where she had lived for the last 13 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, one sister, Helen Louise (Eller) Bartlett; and two brothers, George Everett Eller and James Wilkerson Eller. Betty leaves behind her son, Michael Brockhouse and wife Darcy; a son-in-law, Jeff Garman; four grandsons, Brandy Ashurst, Craig Ashurst, Michael-Lee Brockhouse, and Luke Brockhouse; two granddaughters, Cherry Ashurst and Michelle Brockhouse; eleven great-grandchildren, Chelsey Ashurst, Haley Williams, Joseph Ashurst, Zachary Ashurst, Brandy Ashurst, Addriana Brown, Kiara Ashurst, Anthony Brown, Kalani Ashurst, Luke Wayne Richard Brockhouse, Jr., and Sterling Cayenne Brockhouse; one great-great-grandchild, Colton Choate; two sisters, Willa Mae Case of Dewey, Oklahoma and Barbara Anderson and husband Joe of Champaign, Illinois; and many friends.
