Barbara Ledora Butts Anderson was born March 20, 1929 in Dewey, OK to John and Stella Eller, the youngest of 6 children. She had 6 children herself, Janet Thompson (Allen), Donna Skinner (Bob), Darlene Lynn, Diane Hemrich (John), Debby Miller (John), Ron Butts (Patti), seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She loved each one as if they were the only one.
Barbara was married to Joseph Anderson; he preceded her in death in January 2017. She was a legal secretary for more than 30 years. Prior to her retirement, at the age of 80, she worked for the University of Illinois Home Extension office.
Barbara was a charter member of First Christian Church as well as Northwest Christian Church both in Champaign, and prior to her death was a member at Mahomet Christian Church in Mahomet.
Mom loved to travel almost as much as she loved her family. She had traveled to Japan and Switzerland as well as most states in the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son in law John Lynn. Barbara was a good wife, the best mother, the aunt who always smiled, and had many many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Mahomet Christian Church, Mahomet; Rev. David Johnson and Eric Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Morgan Memorial Home Savoy is in charge of arrangements.
