OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Jan 16 1969 "Former Area Woman Laid To Rest"
Private funeral services were held at the LaFave-Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. for Lila Jean Woodward of Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was a former resident of Iron River. She passed away on January 5 at Ancora State Hospital in Hammonton, New Jersey at the age of 48, after a lengthy illness. Rev. Lance Roberts, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial will be in Iron River Cemetery in the spring.
Mrs. Woodward, the former Lila Peltonen, was born October 30, 1920 in Iron River and graduated from Iron River High School in 1938. She was a well-known musician since the age of seven. In 1939, she left the area and for the past 20 years she was a professional accordionist and entertainer in Atlantic City, N.J.
She leaves her mother, Mrs. Otto Pedo of Stambaugh; one brother, Oliver Peltonen of Milwaukee and three sisters, Mrs. Earle (Dena) Rutz of Fullerton, California, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Beck of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and Miss Gail Pedo of Battle Creek, Michigan.
